Thresholds is an RSVP and The Volunteer Center sponsored decision making program that is offered twice a year. Trained volunteer instructors from RSVP and The Volunteer Center teach a five step course in decision making designed to steer inmates away from the knee jerk reactions that landed many of them in jail and steer them towards a more logical approach to a situation. Inmates are made aware how bad decisions adversely affect their lives and how to avoid making them. Community Corrections is comprised of the Work Release Program and the Electronic Monitor Program. Work Release inmates go to work each day outside the facility and return each evening. Many Work Release inmates are able to support their families, and pay restitution and court costs while serving sentences. Electronic Monitor Program inmates are allowed to live and work in the community under strict supervision and stringent guidelines. Operation Impact is a drug and alcohol diversion program that targets school age children. The program sponsors tours of the facility and also sends supervised inmates out to speak in schools. AA, NA, 12 Step, substance abuse counseling and substance abuse group are available for inmates on the road to recovery and for those inmates interested for informational reasons. Women’s Group is available weekly for women interested in discussing issues specific to women who are incarcerated. GED tutoring and testing is available to interested inmates. Inmates 21 years old and under with special educational needs are able to meet weekly with an instructor if they are interested in pursuing their education. |
